Child development

Theories of development and their relationship to Montessori’s developmental theories and practices will be studied in great details. Candidates will learn about the various stages of development and developmental milestones with an emphasis on ages 2 ½ – 6. Areas of child development including; brain development, motor development, cognitive, social, and emotional development – developmental and behavioral norms and recommendations for early intervention services will be covered. In addition, current research and issues relating to child development and community resources for supporting children and families will be treated.
